Honda XR 650 R
The 2nd XR
This was a new Honda XR650R that I Supermoto’d
The bike was used for commuting for a while hence
the large IMS tank.
The tanks was odd in that
it had only one fuel petcock on it. So when it “ran out” there was still about
a gallon on the other side!
A simple fix was done but at £300 why was it not
done in the first place?
Anyway, but the usual bits and pieces on and, like
most Honda’s, it was dead reliable.
I had a big, strong engine; not as quick as the
Husaberg or Husqvarna, but solid all the way through the revs.
I’m not really sure what Honda was thinking in
building the XR650R, as a replacement for the XR600R it wasn’t any lighter, not
significantly faster or more reliable and it didn’t handle any better. A bit of
a disappointment.
