Trans America Trail - 2008

Day 14 – Wendover, Utah to Winnemucca, Nevada.

Miles: 233 (road distance as per GPS)

Hotel: Super8 Winnemucca, Nevada

Commentary:

Another liaison day here before getting back on the trail.

This was all the way along the I-80 which was incredibly boring.

I stopped in Elko, NV for a bio-break. This was a pretty bleak and boring day hence no pictures.

Tomorrow I would be back on the trail.

Journal Quote:

Started in Wendover and headed to Winnemucca. It was a long, cold ride again. Stopped in Elko for gas and a warm-up. Got going again and went through battle mountain on I-80. This place was very, very desolate and you’d be in a great deal of trouble if you lost it out there. Too dangerous for one man. Made it to Winnemucca and checked in at the Super8. Went out and checked the chain and it was ok. Took it to a jet wash for something to do and came back and lubed the chain again. Went to the local grocery store and was amazed at how cheap America is. They didn’t have any airtime though. Bought a Hotrod and a dirt bike mag. Trail starts tomorrow into Oregon.

Went to a typical American diner. Booths along the window with blinds and sun coming on. Had a bacon cheese burger with fries. Seems like this is standard fare across the US. Northern Nevada in spring is a bit like Johannesburg in winter. Cool and sunny but cold in the mornings and evenings. Miss home now.
