Trans America Trail - 2008

Day 19 – Trails end, Port Orford, OR.

Miles: 0

Hotel: Castaway by the sea, Port Orford, Oregon

Commentary:

So the trail was over and we woke up to good weather in Port Orford.

The motel overlooked the bay:

When we were ready to leave I took the bike down onto the beach.

Jono had a BMW 1200GS and he wasn’t so keen, can’t blame him though as it was on street tyres.

I rode around a bit on the beach and Jono took these pics and some video (video will be added to this site when my ISP gives me more space!)

Battle rock, Port Orford (I think)

The trail was over but the riding wasn’t. We went to Crater Lake again later on this day and then continued down through California all the way to Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

But that’s another story for another website.

As far as the Trans America Trail goes I think I would do it again.

The next time I wouldn’t try to do it to a schedule; it spoils it if you’re trying to get to a place by a certain date.

However, I did thoroughly enjoy it and would recommend it to anyone, the USA is quite an experience and this trail brings out the best of the back country experience.
